A rare species from the Philippines, this form of Aerides quinquevulnerum has burgundy red flowers, with a spicy fragrance. The densely flowered spike has many waxy flowers on a spike to 30 cm or more, burgundy red spotted darker red. The lip is spurred, flowers about 2 cm across.
Best grown in a warm shady spot, the plants do best in a basket in a chunky open media with lots of water and fertiliser when in active growth.Similar shade requirements to that of dendrobium, with perhaps a little more shade in summer.
