A showy strong growing Philippino species. The spikes bear up to 3 flowers each to 6 cm long, glossy orange red, the hinged lip is dark red. Bulbophyllum basicetum is a compact clumping type that will grow into a specimen in a basket or large shallow pot/tray.
Lots of water and fertiliser when in growth, and it will tolerate a lot of sunlight which improves the flowering effort. A warm to intermediate grower.
