Bulbophyllum (Cirrhopetalum) rothschildianum is a spectacular species from India with an umbell of dark red flowers.The umbel consists of about 5 or 6 flowers, each about 10 to 12 cm long, dark red with much darker spots . The lateral sepals are joined and the petals have red apical appendages. It is a warm to intermediate grower, does well on a treefern slab or in a large shallow container in a well drained media that stays damp but not wet. Light conditions similar to that for Dendrobium, maximum light short of leaf burn producing the best flower production Section Cirrhopetalum.
