A green leafed species, this Paphiopedilum will take more sunlight than the mottled leaf species, and is grown successfully with Dendrobiums and the like. An intermediate to cool, more or less terrestrial species from India, Burma.
A pot with a rich media, and while the plant is growing, plenty of water, is needed for Paphiopedilum gratrixianum, with maximum sunlight short of leaf burn. This species will develop into a large clump, and is best left undisturbed as long as possible.
The base of the leaves are noticeably spotted redbrown. Goran Holmberg photo.
