A Jewel Orchid. Beautiful velvet redblack leaf to 6cm long, 5cm wide, veined copper red. This is a dweller of the leafmould and forest litter, semiterrestrial or lithophytic, in heavy shade. A medium that will stay damp, but never soggy, is required. In the cooler months, the plants should be kept on the dry side. This form is Dossinia marmorata var Dayii, one of about 3 known forms with leaf colour and marking differences.
